DAY 1:  JUNE 22, 2019

The Maine Coast is an extraordinary destination.  With more coastline than California, it takes time to see the entire Maine Coast.  This tour will provide you with a sample of what Maine has to offer and a glimpse of some of the many historical lighthouses still standing today.  Today you will travel to the picturesque Boothbay Harbor, the boating capital of Maine.  Accommodations tonight will be at the Boothbay Harbor Inn, a charming waterfront hotel within walking distance of the village shops and restaurants for a three-night stay.  The hotel overlooks the harbor with views of a nearby island.  (D)

DAY 2:  JUNE 23, 2019

This morning you will meet a local guide for a tour of Boothbay Harbor highlights.  Learn the local history and folklore of this bustling seaside community.  Enjoy time at your leisure in Boothbay Harbor before enjoying a scenic cruise.  See puffins, seals, blue heron, an occasional whale and other coastal wildlife along the way.  You will also pass by three lighthouses (Ram Island Light, Burnt Island Light and Pemaquid Point), see many islands, coastline, and much more!  (B, D)

DAY 3:  JUNE 24, 2019

Today will be another full day of touring.  Travel to Cape Elizabeth, Maine where you will visit the Fort Williams Park and the Portland Head Lighthouse.  As you look out over Portland Harbor and Casco Bay you will have the opportunity to view (on a clear day) an additional four lighthouse towers.  Spring Point Ledge Light, Ram Island Ledge Light, Halfway Rock Light, Cape Elizabeth Light.  Visit the Museum, located in the former keepers’ house which was built in 1891.  The history of Portland Head Light is told through exhibits displaying artifacts and documents, navigational aids, Fresnel lenses, models and photographs. Next you will visit Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. & Museum.  Ride aboard historic rail cars with a view of the Portland waterfront along beautiful Casco Bay and explore the exhibits and artifacts inside the museum with a self-guided tour.  Continue to Freeport Maine where you will have time at your leisure for lunch on your own and shopping at the L.L. Bean Flagship store and 120 upscale factory outlets.  Non-shoppers can explore on your own the delights of the nearby Harraseeket River, Wolf’s Neck Park and Farm, or the Desert of Maine.  (B)

DAY 4:  JUNE 25, 2019

Check out of the hotel before making a visit to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens where the Maine woods meets the wetlands shore with a variety of special theme gardens.  Continue making your way north along the coastal route to Bar Harbor.  In Rockland, the lobster Capital of Maine, you will tour the Maine Lighthouse Museum.  Your next stop will be Camden, where the mountains meet the sea.  You will have time at your leisure to explore Camden Village with many restaurants along the harbourfront.  Continue north and have your camera ready for a photo stop atop Mt. Battie within the beautiful Camden Hills State Park.  You will see sweeping views of Penobscot Bay and the surrounding islands.  Check into the Ramada Ellsworth, located on the mainland before Mt. Desert Island for a two-night stay.  Tonight, you will enjoy a re-enactment of a historical lumberjack camp from the era of the 1870’s when the Down East Acadia Region was one of America’s largest logging ports, with Maine’s towering white pines providing timber for tall ship masts, as well as board lumber that helped build the nation.  (B, D)

DAY 5:  JUNE 26, 2019

Travel across the causeway to mt. Desert Island.  This area has been celebrated for its breathtaking beauty since the island was discovered in 1604 by Samuel de Champlain.  Meet a local guide for a morning tour of Acadia National Park.  You will cover the entire park loop road with stops at Cadillac Mountain, Thunder Hole on ocean Drive and Sieur De Mont Springs Wild Gardens of Acadia.  Learn about the rich and famous visitors who built summer cottages in Bar Harbor.  Following the tour, you will have time at your leisure in the village of Bar Harbor.  Explore the shops, boutiques and numerous restaurants.  Visit the Bar Harbor Oceanarium before returning to the hotel.  A lobster dinner will be included this evening (alternate entrée will be available for those who wish).  (B, D)

DAY 6:  JUNE 27, 2019

This morning you will check out of the hotel with lasting memories of Maine, commonly referred to as ‘The Lighthouse State.’  (B)
